Backbenchers
A TRIBUTE TO BACK-BENCHERS
No matter what the teacher asks
i’m always at my own task
i’m one of the back benchers
And always at my own ventures
The teacher has come and he has gone,
Lounging on the back bench i always yawn ,
My last bench is the best place to sleep ,
But when the exam comes i always weep ,
“Go and stand at the back !” the teacher shouts,
“your bad performance is just according to my doubts.”
At my sweet bench , come sweetest dreams,
But they soon end when the teacher screams ,
Looking at all this , sometimes i try to deem:
One day i will sit in front and become nation’s cream,
Still , after all i love this sorrowful trench,
As i am writing this poem on the same last bench !!!!!!
Sounds slightly amateurish, I know. But it hasn’t been written by an expert anyway. And more importantly it is relevant to most of us.
Miss you..
The cool breeze gently stroking your face. The tiny droplets of water splashing against you. The moments where you just forget about everything else. It’s just you and everything else is blocked out. The thrill is unparalleled. You feel like you could just do this forever. You forget about all your worries. These are your moments of freedom. You know you can go on here without worrying about anything. No one can touch you …….
You are just praying for the heavens to open up- Cause you end up thinking about nothing else…absolutely nothing. This is your stairway….
How I miss driving…. <<Just hope its not a permanent loss.>>
Lesson No.1
I learnt a very important lesson today. There is a reason why only Bathroom singing is famous and not Bathroom dancing.
Its too slippery………and gravity has a way of getting us down…(My back is still paining..)
PS_ For anyone who is interested.. I was doing a ballroom dance with an imaginary Salma Hayek
Perfect Fit….
Isn’t it fitting that the only thing that truly comes with a lifetime guarantee is “life”?
<<<<<<<<<<<In a previous post, in another blog, I had said the exact opposite. Now I realize how wrong I was.. ..>>>>>>>>>>
Simplicity ?
Don’t you ever feel that life is too complex. Each and every aspect of it is an entangled web of things we do not can’t understand or control.
The biggest irony is that simplifying things is the most complex task of them all.
We spend most of our lives trying to simplify things. The comprehension part is the easier one…
Groundhog Day
Groundhog Day was a brilliant Bill Murray movie where he has to live the same day over and over again. In the movie he hates it because he has to suffer certain things daily.
However aren’t there some days which you wish you could just go on living again and again….Something special that you can’t have enough of..?
I know it takes away the novelty factor out of life..But aren’t some memories so important and cherished that you never want to stop living them ??
The Twilight Zone (Read as Examination)
I don’t think my interpretation of twilight zone matches the original.
But then this is my blog. So….
Everything is “out of focus”. Can’t concentrate on anything. Not much is making sense. There is no solid/definitive thought in my head. Everything is fluid. One thought completely intertwined with another. Nothing is steady. Each passing thought is like a bubble. I touch it and its gone.
Everything in my head feels like it’s running away from me at the speed of light.Still it feels like time has stopped. I must have looked at the clock a thousand time. It looks like its stuck in a time wrap.
I feel like I am in a cocoon. Separated from the chaos outside. And yet I am a part of it. A bit like a Pensive…
It feels like it is just me and this moment. Nothing else exists. Nothing else matters…
And then it happens.
The cocoon is broken. Each thought falls back in its place. It feels like a puzzle is being completed.Vapors flying back to where they came from. Everything is happening in reverse order.Like someone turned the clock back. But I realize something. I don’t want it to happen. I don’t want the fog to go away. I don’t want out from my cocoon. I am fading away.
THAT moment is gone…….
And a minute has passed………..
This is how I feel at the start of every exam. Specially the “surprise” ones that we have been having. {there the whole “quiz” as they like to call it, is like that only….}
Screw you IIT’s for coming up with this structure. And for being so good that people want to copy you..without stopping to think for one moment about our standard and IIT student’s standards. If I really had the capability of studying that much wouldn’t I have been in an IIT right now. This is really dumb blind following.
Plus the stupid scoring system. It’s like a mutated mixture of the ABSOLUTE grading system and the RELATIVE grading system.
It is called relative though(Even though passing is absolute.) If the paper is tough you can have a topper at 51 with everyone else flunking. This is SO short-sighted and haphazard.
Aaaaaarrgh . Why is the administration so dumb!!(They make Rakhee Sawant look like a Mensa member…)
I am yet to find a single colleague who disagrees.
To Blog Or Not To Blog
Two of my friends questioned my motives behind blogging. Which made me think(A rare phenomenon..)..They were asking if it was-
A. To express my ideas through this medium and find similar minded people.
B. To basically be popular(?) via my blogs.
C. To hook up with a chick(Courtesy Siddharth…)
I thought it would be an easy option for me..It wasn’t.
When you really think about it you can’t really dismiss any option.
Although one thing they forgot was that this place also acts like a Pensieve(Credits to Sanika..)
You can just offload your memories here..so you can revisit them when you want to…..
Specially those small ones that you might not remember, but which still manage to bring a smile on your face whenever you think about them
[For girls its hooking up with guys of course...]
(I know it sounds a bit shallow, but still….)
So currently in a dilemma……..
The Bloggergeist
Since no one has come forward to explain to me the “Strikethrough” phenomenon(and more importantly how to remove it..) ,I am going to do what most pseudo-”religious” people have been doing for ages..Blame it on the Paranormal…. Maybe this is the work of some Bloggergeist. The quintessential white “chadar” atma . Or is it a B-Grade Hollywood slasher(Subset of HORROR) flick where people who have strikethroughs against their names, are going to die the most gruesome death. Your choices are-
A.Non-Stop Himesh
B.Anup Jalota remixes
C.Siddhu ki commentary
D.Laughter challenge N(n-> 1 to infinity) + option C= Unimaginable pain
E.Mithun Da Z-grade movies(Barring Kanti Shah’s Gunda and Loha)
F. The easy way- At the hands of Hannibal Lectre where he makes you eat a part of yourself and then jumps in to finish the job.
So like everything on TV (and supposedly in our govt.) you get to vote here.
Kindly put your suggestions(Votes) in the comment box.
PS- Nagraj, Sanika, Aditya, Snehas ,Aniket, Ramanand and Kapeesh..beware..
For security “Who you gonna call?”..
Here is their number- 98900 98900 (Airtel’s bill collection dept. is sure to have some toughies.. ICICI’s does…If any doubts then ask the man who decided to cross the River Styx in a hurry because of them….)
[I know I have gone overboard with the "POP" culture references..]
D’Oh
As the great Homer Simpson once said”D’Oh”(Ok not once, many times).
I seem to have run into my first obstacle . My blogroll shows a strikethrough for the blog links that I have visited. For some reason, I can’t get it out .
As I am too lazy to actually look around, if anyone sees that strikethrough and/or knows a way to remove it, please let me know.
PS- The reward will be a “fantastic” dinner with yours truly*.
That * refers to what I would like to call ” Conditions Apply”.
You can see those conditions right after the star, albeit you will be using a microscope for that. It is still a bigger font than the one on most loan forms …
